Hvar and Brac areas to stay (for a crystal clear sea lover)

I have had some great help on here with our August road trip plan. Am now looking at accommodation and trying to decide between Hvar and Brac and which areas.

We like to stay close to a sheltered rocky beach with crystal clear sea that is good for jumping in and snorkelling. Not too far to a town by foot or car with a bit of vibrancy for the evening. Don’t like staying in a noisy area. The trouble with googling “nice beaches” is it usually refers to there being sand or not

Possible areas:
Brac, east side of Bol - it looks like there are sheltered beaches as well as the windsurfing ones. Is that right?

North Brac - lots of accommodation on North coast but I think I read the sea is nicer in the South?

Hvar
The only suitable accommodation is on the North coast in Jelsa and Vrerboska and I have also read that on Hvar the South coast has better sea. What is the sea like in the North in these areas? The draw of Hvar is trips to the Pakleni islands as well as experiencing Hvar town but maybe that’s possible as a day trip from Brac?

thanks

Brac isn't that busy anyway.
We stayed in Milna for a few days (2 or 3 bars, 3 restaurants) followed by a few days on the outskirts of Bol. We actually preferred Milna was stunning and chilled out.
There is an supermarket just as you get off the ferry if driving so pretty easy and we enjoyed exploring.
Bol has a lot more choice but can still be quiet if on the outskirts.

Hvar Town has great beaches and snorkelling. We go every year but if you are talking about August 24, you will need to book soon. It gets booked up very fast.

Thanks. Have found possible accommodation the East side of Hvar town walking distance to good beaches. The only thing that puts me off is seeing comments about Hvar being full of vomiting piss heads. Is it really that bad? Are there quieter parts? Want to be able to sleep . We are used to Malta in August so fine if beaches get busy , will be there early then can get in car to explore . Thank you

We preferred Supertar on Brac. Along from the harbour (which people swam from) there was a shingly cove backs with pine trees. Beyond this there were loads of rocky flat shelves where every day, we found total peace to snorkel in deep water and lounge on the rocks. It was less touristy, in those days, than Bol.

Hvar is beautiful but but busier and the Yacht set were out in force.

This is the Jelsa coast - so beautiful. We shared this beach with the odd couple but most days we were alone jumping off rocks and swimming along the coast to other little bays. The issue was access - we had a bit of a walk, our car couldn’t handle the unmade road!

We loved Supertar and hired a car for a few days to get around. However this might be your best bet. We had 3 nights with Davor. Swimming round islands, into submarine tunnels, over a ship wreck was pretty fabulous.

Thanks. What are the beaches like in Milna.

It's mostly little coves and rocky/platforms. But you also have Lucica beach which is small pebbles not far away which is a 30 min walk or about 5 mins drive.
It is a small place but we loved it as a base to explore and definitely not well known on Brac Island

We have decided on Hvar (I think!)

Do you know what the east side district of Hvar town is like to stay in? We have found suitable self catering accommodation walkable to Pokinji Bol beach. Alternative is staying in Milna (Hvar) which is quieter but a bit pricier.
Want to stay south of the island for the evening sun.
Thanks
