Madrid - would you recommend?

Hi all

Thinking about a short break, solo, end of Feb. Would be travelling out on 22nd and returning 25th, which would give me 2 full days there. Madrid has good flight times from where I would be flying from, and very reasonably price wise.

Just wondering if anyone has been would you recommend?

TIA

Yes, I would.

Madrid is lovely

BlindurErBóklausMaður · 27/01/2024 18:13

God, yes.
One of my favourite cities in the world.

I live in Madrid - great city and very easy place to visit solo.

artfuldodgerjack · 27/01/2024 18:17

Yes. Madrid is wonderful and especially for solo travellers. I'll be there in March, although I'm meeting friends out there.

It's an amazing city, so much to see and do (and eat 😉).

SkaneTos · 27/01/2024 18:18

I have never been to Madrid, but my parents have, and they loved it!

Exasperatednow · 27/01/2024 18:19

I loved it.

One of my fave places, it’s an awesome city. Easy to get to and loads to see and do.

MissCaptain · 27/01/2024 18:23

Yes. Went on a long weekend break before Covid with some girlfriends. Probably my favourite city ever. xx

W0tnow · 27/01/2024 18:24

I live there. Yes! It’ll be cold but sunny.

TellySavalashairbrush · 27/01/2024 18:33

Sorry but I really disliked it- apart from the art gallery. It was expensive and the people
we met were a bit miserable. Also seemed a bit dirty. I wouldn’t want to go back but that’s only my experience.

InglouriousBasterd · 27/01/2024 18:34

Yes! Madrid is just beautiful.

I went with my bro and 4 year old DS a few years ago. No standout sites but worth it for the Spanish vibe, good food ( I did some research before going), there are still little independent shops and cafes etc. I generally like Spain a lot and feel comfortable there though.

Hetty2507 · 27/01/2024 20:25

Yes. There's something for everyone. Parks, shopping, museums, rooftop bars, architecture, historical buildings, food markets. So much to see and it's very walkable. I could walk around Madrid looking at the buildings forever, every street is pretty. Metro very easy to get around on too.
Ignore those that say it's dirty/not nice people. That could be said for any big city! In my experience the people were very friendly and Madrid has a real buzz about the place. Definitely not expensive, unless you go to the main tourist traps.

Cracking art gallery though, TBF.
