Travel companion wanted!

Does anyone know where I could go to find a likeminded travel companion? I'm 55, semi-retired and just want a person (or persons) to do some trips with. There must be some kind of online resource where you can find people who want to go to roughly the same places and travel in the same way. I'd be really grateful for any suggestions or recommendations. Thanks in advance!

Why not look at the companies that organise holidays for people on their own such as Saga and Riviera’s Solo holidays?

I was thinking about this but I can't see how it would work. I mean some people would primarily want to travel with you to share rooms, for the price , some would want to have the company ( but what if you hate them ) and people like my mate will only travel with people that will drive abroad, so she doesn't have to.

Perhaps you are better just to post on a local Facebook site with a couple of ideas for trips and see who responds? At least that way you can meet up locally and agree on a plan.

Thanks both of you. I've been looking at holidays designed for solo travellers but they're quite expensive. I wouldn't be up for sharing rooms, but I do like independent travel - by train/ferry/bus - and finding my way around. One of the trips I'd like to do is travel around Germany by train; another is to take the train down to the south of Italy, then ferry to Montenegro, then travel by bus and train into Greece.

I need to find something like a dating site, but for travelling partners, not romantic partners!
