Has anyone been to Budva, Montenegro please?
Looks beautiful, thinking of booking for late summer
We enjoy nice views, good food and wine, bit of history
None of my friends have been, it's really taken my eye though
Tips most welcome 🤗

Not been to Budva, only Kotor.

Utterly blown away by its beauty. Incredible panoramic mountainous views, with the water. Stunning!

Montenegrins known for being lazy though 😂 Google the resting contest!

We went end of Sept and weather was perfect. Food was awesome - ate loads of seafood, and the wine good too.

I would definitely go back.

Budva is quite a large resort which is quite built up but the Old Town is charming.

I would always favour anywhere around Boka bay (so Dobrota, Perast, Prcanj, Muo) or Tivat over Budva. If you stay in Kotor Old Town you would not see the bay from your accommodation, though the town itself is lovely. (It can become overwhelmed with cruise passengers at times).

Listening - on my to do list for next year.

Yes - we stayed at Boka Bay outside Kotor and visited Perast which was stunning. Very popular for weddings apparently - lots go there as it’s a fraction of the cost of the Italian lakes and more beautiful.

Fabulous views also from the brand new cable car above Kotor.

We took LO last year when she was 9 months old and loved it. Stayed just outside Kotor, got an Airbnb with a pool for a really reasonable price. If you drive I'd recommend hiring a car, we spent a couple of days exploring Kotor itself then drove to Perast one day and to Sveti Stefan on another day. All beautiful, can't recommend highly enough and I would definitely go back

Thankyou again, I booked yesterday!
Going in September, really excited!

We stopped at Bar on a cruise last October then took a boat trip up to Budva. It was absolutely beautful! The beach was gorgeous, the clearest bluest sea and backed by stunning mountains. The old town was lovely. We definitely want to go back and do a road--trip.

@PinkPondQueen Budva is where we are staying, really does look beautiful!

On our list for next year- will do a 1 week guided tour to prepare us for a visit on our own. But it is so beautiful that I would hate to just stay in one place as a 'just beach' holiday.

GreatGateauxsby · 27/01/2024 11:07

We normally split it across dubrovnik and Montenegro.
we normally stay outside budva…
in a place called “sweaty stefan”
we go with extended family I think the place is called Aman Sveti Stephan

we often do day trips from there, like visiting kotor or just hang out

i havent been in a few years though… Covid then babies/kids!!!

I'm looking at it for us this year too after a friend mentioned how lovely it was. These recommendations are great!
