SPLIT Corsica. What do you know?

Thinking of taking two teens here, are there nicer areas of Split? Where is the main part? Looking on air bnb and so hard to know where to book.

We'd like to go kayaking and some swimming, see some history and maybe spend a day at an island, which island would be nice?

Thanks for any info at all!

Well I know Split isn’t in Corsica.

Ladyofthelake53 · 23/01/2024 17:47

Gosh, I came on thinking your marriage had broken down in Corsica. Glad it's not that!

I’m too late with the sarcastic comments 😂

What’s happened to the dit function?

We went to Trogir from Split, which is a lovely little island.
We went to a few different places in Croatia, and I have to say that Split was my least favourite.

edited to correct name of island!

Had a great holiday in Croatia a couple of years ago including 3 days in Split. DS11 and DS8. We stayed just outside the city and had a hire car because we were touring Croatia more widely. Bol is the nearest big island and you can visit Zlatini Rat, the big long sandy beach that you can kayak or sail around. Split's Roman centre is fab for mooching round in the evening, and is much more lively than Dubrovnik, we loved it. Worth trying to get to the waterfalls for a day trip too.

We flew to Split five years or so ago. The older part of the city was good to visit for the day, but then we stayed on the islands for the rest of the week, and then Trogir on the last night. We honestly wouldn't have wanted to do Split for any longer - we were wanting swimming, hiking, cycling, restaurants and bars and all of that is much better on the islands. Vis was lovely but a bit quieter, Brac and Hvar also gorgeous and busier.

And we did the islands without a car - ferries and buses, if that helps.

We went to Split with two teens last year and loved it - we stayed in an apartment in Podstrana slightly down the coast. Lots of boat trips, kayaking, zip lining , hiking nearby. Brac is lovely, as is Hvar. We had a hire car and went exploring.

Great area for teens - we stayed in Split towards the end but also in Trogir which is near, and not quite as overrun with tourists, I would recommend using Trogir as a base for that reason, it's also a bit cheaper.

Worth spending part of your stay on one of the islands as well.

Okay so are there any islands with a larger town/city? One teen isn't into beaches so want some other stuff to do
