Would you haggle with a tour/excursion company?

Ok maybe not haggle, but would you negotiate/question a quote?

We have been given a quote by a local tour operator that seems about £100 more expensive than what we expected. We needed to change the request slightly on a private tour to reflect that DH gets free entry to all of the museums etc through work. So we were expecting a slight discount on the tour rate, but instead they’ve upped the price more?

(There’s no logical explanation, so no need to try and guess their reasoning, other than wanting more cash)

Start by asking them the reason for the increase.
What country is it?
I'd hazard a guess that they get commission on entry tickets, & may be trying to recoup their losses.

They probably get group rates on entry so cannot pass on a free place without loading others' cost

I queried the price and got a “special discount”. So there we go! Was worth asking
