Anyone been on Iceland air? My daughter is thinking about using them and asked me to ask the hive mind.

Other than them being very strict with cabin luggage size and weight we've never had an issue with them.

Cheers

We flew to NY with them. Very comfortable seats. No issues at all.

Advise her to use another carrier. Cheap is not always cheerful and if the flight is indirect it will add hours to an already long day.

Is she just going to Iceland? Or is Iceland just a stopover?

We used them to go to Iceland and they were great. Much better than EasyJet.

I haven't flown with them for a while but when I did they were excellent. This was pre-covid though. But then they were far better than any other airline I've been with.

Great when we used them last year. Better than the Ryanair experience we had later in the year.

Used them twice, both to Iceland. They were fine. Did a lovely tapas box and wine was drinkable.

Flown with them to Iceland in the past. No better or worse than any other airline on a short haul flight. Can't comment on their longer haul services.

Flew Manchester-Reykavik with them last year. No problem at all, in fact rather efficient.

She's flying from Reykjavik to US after a short visit to Iceland

We had fab flights with them - went to NY from Manchester via a (free) stopover in Iceland a couple of years ago Went their version of business class which is like a really good premium economy (ie seats don’t go flat but fantastic legroom) and it was cheaper than premium economy with either BA or Virgin. Would definitely recommend

Wonderful airline!

A few years ago, I was supposed to be taking oldest DS to Iceland on an Icelandair package. He then couldn’t go at the last minute - day before, (it wasn’t for a reason claimable on insurance.)

I rang Icelandair, just on the off chance the ticket and holiday could be transferred to my younger DS, not expecting that they would be able to help. Took a couple of minutes to get through. The woman on the phone said: ‘I am not understanding why you think this is a problem. Of course your other son can go instead.’ Took five minutes to sort out and she charged me £20 for a new emailed ticket.

I was - and still am - very grateful to that rep.

We use them a lot. They are usually very good, especially with children. Definitely a step up from Easyjet and Ryanair. Good selection of in flight entertainment and various extras provided for kids.

I recognise what PP says about sorting admin issues - Icelandic companies are often quite flexible and have a more easygoing approach to things. The small size of the country makes this attitude common.

They can be a bit headless chicken in a crisis - like if tourists get stranded at the airport they don't seem to respond very efficiently.

The airline is great but tell her to check the departure schedule for the day of the onward leg, and if there's several flights leaving at around the same time as hers to get to Keflavik with plenty of time to spare. The airport wasn't really designed for the number of tourists Iceland gets nowadays and both times I've been the check in queues were really long, to the point I was getting worried about missing the flight despite arriving several hours early. (Although that was five years ago so it might be better now.)

Agree with this, and experienced about the same length of time ago actually. Our flight to London was early in the morning, a few others leaving at a similar time and Keflavik was a shitshow, for want of a better word.
