Slovenia accommodation (cheaper and/or quirky)

We're doing 11 ish days in Slovenia at the start of the school holidays- 2 kids 7 and 10, both well travelled.

Does anyone have any recommendations for accommodation? Planning a couple of nights in Ljubljana, a couple at one of the thermal spa places and the remainder by lake Bohinj. We're more budget end travellers- e.g. happy with family rooms in a hostel, or cabin type accommodation (not camping, we hate camping, although some sort of glamping thing might be OK and would expect to mostly self cater I think. Any ideas?

We won't have a car so I think that factors out some of the more rural farmstays.

We stayed here https://air.tl/XSnzFyB2 5 years ago.
Pretty central and good value.
It's in a soviet style apartment block. I'm sure there are lots of similar ones too.

We were without a car too.
For lake Bohinj, we stayed at the campsite but in one of their camper vans.

The site is closed until April but might answer emails about the vans.
Very rough and ready but the site is in such a fab location. Opposite the cable car for Vogel, walking distance to waterfalls.
There are no shops at that end of the lake, but there is/was a free bus from the town (it goes to bled too, which we did as a day trip).It's about a 40min walk along the lake if I remember rightly. The site has bread etc daily and does fab pizzas.
I think there's a hostel slightly further along too.

Breakfast was very good, and easy walk in to Ljubljana.

Ljubljana has a fantastic cycle hire scheme, it's just about free and the city centre is mostly pedestrianised. It's quite a small city centre too

@Macramepotholder it was fairly small!
The pop top would be fine for your kids - my dds were 15 and 13 and coped. Cooking was on a little gas burner outside. But yes, maybe a week is too much.
It's a beautiful area.
