Bermuda

Has anyone been for a holiday?

Looking at renting a nice villa and swimming, snorkelling, cooking in, and sometimes eating out.

Villa rentals don’t seem that extortionate. We usually like the Caribbean but Bermuda has interested us for a long time. It’s closer and looks a lot cleaner.

I loved it. Stayed in a hotel though.

We went years ago. The sea is Atlantic, so it is freezing. The beaches are lovely, with sand like talc. But many of them are attached to hotels and are private, so if you're beach people you'd need to check out where they are in relation to your villa, especially when considering transport. AFAIK tourists still can't hire cars, but they can hire mopeds, and of course there are taxis. But getting about by public transport bus/boat is easy, although maybe not if your villa is off the beaten track! Buses don't let you on with luggage,so you need taxi/minibus to and from airport.

No idea of current costs, but years ago we found it expensive compared to the Caribbean, of course this may well have changed. But if you're on any kind of a budget you'll need to check that out.

Its very clean. The horse shoe beach is stunning and not attached to a hotel. A taxi from the airport to Hamilton -i cant remember what we paid but it was not expensive, it seemed very reasonable. I wouldnt personally go for longer than a week, there isnt a huge amount to do, but its very beautiful. Happy to answer any specific questions.
