Nantes stopover possible with roofbox?!

Hi, we’re driving from Cherbourg to Vendee this August and wanted to have a one night stopover in Nantes (arrive 4pm Friday, then next morning visit Les Machines D’Ile before heading on our way) - however we will have a roofbox and all the central hotels I find have secure underground parking with 1.8m height restriction, so we can’t park there… Anyone been to Nantes and managed to park for 24hrs with a roofbox on?!

I’ve been googling for hours looking for central car parks, and looking through hotel reviews to see whether each car park is height restricted… I don’t think it’s worth staying just outside Nantes and getting train in when it’s just a stopover.

TIA!

Have you tried searching for B&Bs on Booking.com or Air bnb?

OP, try the Parking Chateau next to the Chateau des Ducs de Bretagne? Open air, central, DH thinks there’s no height restriction. For some reason it won’t let me post a Google link!

Not sure if it will let you stay there overnight though.

Do you have to use a roofbox?. Such things can be magnets to thieves when cars are left unattended.

@Funderthighs good point I have just been looking at hotels, will see if I can find a B&B! Thanks!

@MotherOfCatBoy Thanks for this - I’ve just checked and unfortunately it’s not an overnight one, but thank you for replying anyway.

@AttilaTheMeerkat good point but the second place we’re staying at has literally nothing so we have a lot of general stuff and bedding etc we need to take. I do get what you mean about being a magnet for thieves though - it’s just unavoidable for us I think…

Whereabouts in the Vendee are you going? Even from the southern most part you can get to Nantes in just under an hour, so you could always do a day trip to visit the Machines D’Ile later on during your holiday.

We had that issue in France!

We found ports don't have height limits so the boats can go in with cars.

So we parked anywhere that accepts boats (we had an old style discovery and a roof box).

And for supermarkets DH would circle until I came out with the shopping then I'd push it to the far side of the bars.
