Recommendations for country hotel or B&B (within hour ish of London)

DH and I have got a weekend pass for our wedding anniversary. We usually end up at a spa/golf hotel. But I was thinking it would be nice to book a good pub/B&B type place for a change. I am thinking roaring log fires, long country walks, pub lunches, etc. Please help me fulfil my "movie love" fantasy weekend away...

Any suggestions? Ideally within 60 - 90 mins of W. London.

The Devil's Punchbowl, remote, but lovely.

Where DH proposed to me. They even have a four poster in one of the rooms.

easy from west london, take the M4 and come off at J8/9.

You could visit Marlow which is lovely to meander round and Henley, lots of pubs round there, you've got the river .....

I got married here and it is really lovely, michelin-starred but very friendly (telegraph review here). If you stay here there is the beach at Whitstable to meander along, and Canterbury to vist, and these places to eat at
