Can someone explain/recommend travel insurance please?

I've never been abroad as an adult so I'm embarrassed to say that as a reasonably intelligent woman, I have no idea how travel insurance works.

I'm going to Cyprus in July and take blood thinning medication. I know the risk of blood clots is minimal for short haul but I'd want to be covered in case of the worst.

I did a quick quote on Compare the market but the quotes were suspiciously cheap so I'm worried maybe I didn't actually compare the right thing.

Can someone please explain? The last thing I need is to end up in hospital with £££££ medical bills or find out repatriation isn't included.

When you get a quote it usually asks questions about pre existing medical conditions and any medication you are on. If it did and you declared it then the quote will account for that. If it didn't ask then you probably didn't answer the questions correctly.

Be very honest with them and declare everything. A friend of mine never declared that she was very obese when she took out insurance (but was mentioned multiple time on Medical notes). She had to submit a claim that sadly her weight was used not to pay the claim.

Thanks both. I did declare the medical condition so maybe the quotes were right and travel insurance is much cheaper than I imagined.
