How old are the kids and what do they like doing?
We went to lots of museums when we were there.

Is pretty entertaining.
We also enjoyed Málaga museum, the Picasso museum and the modern art museum.
There's a castle on the top the hill that gives amazing views you can get a bus up if you don't want to walk.
Further out the botanical gardens are amazing.
The port and beaches are also good to wander around.

Sorry, I meant to add aged 11 and 7. They enjoy interactive museums, eating ice cream (!), exploring generally...

In that case definitely the museum of imagination, it's not very big but you get to take lots of illusion photos, and the castle and botanical gardens. Málaga is nice just to wander around, there are parks and outdoor gyms in various places and the beaches.

The 'Interactive Music Museum' was good.

There are lots of catamarans doing one hour sea cruises from the harbour. Some of the museums are free late on Sunday.

Is it at half term? If so the Carnaval will be going on so I’d try to catch some of those events. I think the first Sunday of half term will be the main celebration day in most places.

Sunview Park outside Malaga looks great for outdoor adventure activities (zip wire etc) but not sure of age/size requirements.

You could also consider a trip to Ronda and white villages or even to Granada and the Alhambra.
