I was only there a few hours but the Hofbräuhaus Brewery was great.

I went during Christmastime so spent some time at the markets.

I enjoyed wandering around the English garden, visited the BMW museum, Augustiner Keller & Hofbrauhaus, Marienplatz & lots of shopping. I done the hop on/off bus and went to Nymphenburg Palace.

Keep in mind lots of places close on a Sunday!!

Oh, almost forgot!! I also took the train to Neuschwanstein Castle - book tickets beforehand as the queues were massive!

Another day I took the train to Mittenwald. This was nice for a few hours and the scenery from the train was very pretty.

The Alte Pinathotek, if you’re into classical art. Not spectacular, like the Louvre etc, but definitely worth a visit if that’s your sort of thing.

You can get by public transport from Munich to the concentration camp Dachau if that's of interest to you (S-Bahn and bus).

The Thermespa at Erding is great, and easy to get to by public transport. We stayed over night in Erding, but you could easily visit for the day from Munich

Some great art museums - Alte Pinakothek, Neue Pinakothek, Pinakothek der Moderne. Also there are some stunning baroque/rococo churches.

Deutsches Museum for the more scienc-y minded.

Schloss Nymphenburg is like a mini-Versailles including landscape gardens.

Viktualienmarkt is famous for all things food-related.

Depending on time of the year, a day trip to the wonderful nearby lakes - Chiemsee, Starnberger See.
