St Lucia

Looking at St Lucia for August. It will be me, DP and DS7. I've seen coconut bay which looks a bit dated but seems to have good entertainment for DS e.g lazy river, waterslides etc. I've also seen some other nicer hotels (specifically the windjammer)in a similar budget but they seem to be a bit lacking in the kid friendly department. As DS is an only child and not fully keen on going to kids club I'm looking for somewhere with good poolside entertainment.

Greatful for any recommendations and other general tips/info at St Lucia.

Don’t go in August. Sorry to be a debbie downer on your plans, but August is a bad time to visit the Caribbean. It’s rainy season. Saint Lucia in particular gets more rain than nearby islands.

We had to spend a night either side of our holiday this year overnighting in Saint Lucia. It rained both days. We went to Tobago and to Grenada and had rain on 9/10 days. 4 of those days were total write offs, like torrential.

You might not get the same weather but we learnt the hard way that summer in the Caribbean is cheap for a reason.

I agree with @walltiler, the weather is just not reliable to go in August.

Thanks. I've been to Mexico and DR many times in july/August and never had a problem (except a couple of wet days last summer as a storm moved through). Is st lucia likely to be wetter than those places?

I haven’t been to the DR so can’t comment. But St Lucia is very mountainous which is what brings the rain. Are you hoping to go as there are BA airmiles flights?

Went in July, weather was fine. Short downpours some days but then absolutely fine all afternoon.
