Cheap flights / search engine flexible on dates and airport in NE NW Scotland

Trying to find cheap flights to a particular destination in Europe early mid June if there is still such a thing.

We can be flexible on departure date, duration, return date (by several days each side) and the departure airport we could also go for between 4 to 10 days. I am sure it used to be much easier than it is now. We will need at least a small suitcase each as would be attending a wedding. Tried the usual suspects Ryan air, Jet2 and Easy jet (but by the time you have paid for luggage and picked a seat the price has ramped up massively) also looked at Skyscanner with no success. Am I missing something.

Less of you get a luggage but get a bigger one and share

Assuming you're flying from Scotland so if you're looking at Aberdeen, Inverness or island airports flights will be very limited. Can you go from Edinburgh or Glasgow?

3WildOnes · 16/01/2024 17:49

We just share a big case between us and never pick seats.
Try Google flights. Did you use the whole month feature on sky scanner?

PamelaParis · 16/01/2024 17:52

Oh wait a minute, do you mean you are looking at flights from the NE or NW of England or Scotland? If so, ignore me!

ToothFairy2023 · 16/01/2024 18:19

Thanks yes looking to fly out from ideally either Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle or Leeds (don’t mind which just want best price). We would even consider flying out of Manchester or Liverpool at a push but ideally would prefer the airports listed above.

i wonder if there’s a football Euros effect on prices around then? With Scotland qualifying there’s masses of people wanting to travel to Germany and I know friends have booked massively convoluted routes via Spain/france/portugal etc as direct flights are either extortionate or fully booked

There are very few flights out of Scotland compared with pre-covid times, unless you want to go to a classic, hot beach holiday destination.

Business travel has recovered a lot less than leisure travel, especially thanks to zoom/teams so flights to business/less mainstream tourist destinations basically involve connecting through Amsterdam, Frankfurt or other hubs.

Ah that makes total sense. We’re looking at the Alps for a summer holiday and I was amazed how few direct flights to eg Geneva there were.

ToothFairy2023 · 16/01/2024 18:46

Thanks yes noticed lots of non direct flights. It is also to a beach holiday destination rather than any of the places listed above.

If you can hold your nerve you may just be looking at peak pricing time as lots of people book their holidays around this time of year and Ryanair and Easyjet often reduce flights within the season if they haven't sold well.

We were very impressed with Gdansk when we went last September. Lovely city, lots to do, £10 uber ride to a beach town and flights weren't ridiculously expensive - flew from Edinburgh.

Or Ryanair have just started new flights from Edinburgh to Bergerac and Morocco I think, you could try to get in before the prices go up.

Oh sorry I slightly misread your OP and didn't realise you had a fixed destination Blush.
