Going to spend some time in Sintra and will stay in Lisbon for 2 days prior to that - wondering which is a good area to look for a hotel ? Travelling with two teens, and another couple with smaller children.

Any hotel recommendations would be amazing
TIA

Vincii Liberdade was great. Slightly out of the centre (I chose that because I don't want to be in the middle of the nightlife) Quiet area but just a couple of metro stops from the centre.

Thank you for that recommendation Blindur, will look into it.

We stayed at the Jupiter Lisboa - very good value and a quality hotel with excellent staff, spa and roof top pool. Wonderful coffee shop nearby and a couple of minutes walk to the metro station.

The guided whole day trip we took to Sintra was the best bit of the holiday - not cheap but well worth it for jumping queues etc! And we did a half day walking tour of Lisbon which was fab too.

Thanks for that Mytholmroyd, it looks lovely (especially the pool for some small relief after a day of sightseeing! Would you say that its well situated for things to do in Lisbon. We have booked on Airbandb a place to stay in Sintra for 7 days so looking forward to that.

We stayed there because we were attending a conference at the University and it was a really good base near it. But it proved to be very easy to get into the old part of the city and the shore as it is on the metro which is cheap and frequent and safe. But not too far out to walk in.

I can highly recommend the hotel though - rooms were spacious and lovely and the facilities, bars, breakfast were fabulous.

We stayed in Bairro Alto which is right downtown. One of the things we remarked on when out late at night was how safe it felt, no drunks or rowdiness which should be reassuring if your teens are out late.

I stayed at Rossio Square. The train to Sintra leaves from Rossio train station, so very handy for that.

The area around the square is all on the flat which makes walking around really easy - Barrio Alto & Alfama are situated on hillsides if that matters.

Thanks for that @Vanillalime - it's a good call to perhaps stay near Rossio Square as we will take the train to Sintra, and flat will certainly help in the heat. Would you mind sharing with me where you stayed if you thought it was a good place. TIA.
