I've been to Sicily several times, but never to the Palermo area. We've got 5 nights and want to see the city, but not sure if we want to stay in it. DC will be 16 and 13. They love Italian food, DC2 will want to swim in the sea, if it's warm enough (he swam in the sea in Oct near Syracuse).
We'd love a sea view and would prefer to stay out of the centre, I think. DH and I love art/museums, etc, but DC don't. Would love to do a day trip to Cefalu, but not sure whether to stay there or not - it looks like an hour on the train from Palermo and we'd be happy to use public transport rather than driving. Is Mondello nice? If anyone has any recommendations of areas, hotels or SC apartments, that would be lovely
