Rouen hotel with parking for car with roof box

Can anyone recommend a hotel (eg Mercure Ibis Novotel / other) with either their own parking or nearby safe street parking for a car with a roofbox in Rouen please?

We would like to do an overnight stop. Most of the hotels with car parks seem to be underground and I don’t think our car would fit.

Any experience / recommendations appreciated. Thanks

We stayed at the best western hotel de Dieppe in Rouen in 2022. Parking was at the P2 Effia car park. We didn’t have a roof box but it says max height 1.8m online, is that enough? The hotel was lovely and the car park was a short walk, cost €10 per night when we stayed.

We stayed at this one ibis Budget Rouen Centre Rive Gauche. The parking is in a courtyard area at the rear, you have to go through a barrier to get into it, it looked pretty secure. I think you have to drive through an arch to get into it - see if you can check any photos on the website.
It is basic ( no tea/coffee making facilities in the room) although you can get drinks at reception. The reception area was nice, with lots of seating and a games area ( snooker or similar i think) and a bar. Staff were very friendly and helpful. It's a bus ride from the centre - about 10-15 minutes I think.
Rouen is lovely, really worth a visit to the Cathedral and the shopping area by the Gros Horologe - there is a lovely cafe right next the Horologe that looks really expensive but was about 3Euro for a coffee, where you can sit outside and look at the clock and people watch.

I just looked at the photos, and you can't see the access to the car park, but you could email them to check if there's a height restriction.

Hi thanks both for the reply. Unfortunately we have a 4x4 with a box so it’s over 2m. Yes I saw that Ibis budget - maybe will go for that one. I am checking hotel websites then trying to research the parking on trip advisor but none really talk about parking if you have height restrictions. Thanks ☺️
We have also stayed a budget one in Petit Quevilly in the past (Ibis budget possibly I can’t remember) but thought might try somewhere else.

We;ve stayed at Novotel Rouen Sud several times as a stop over. I recall they have gates that get locked over night rather than a low barrier.

We have also stayed overnight at the Novotel Sud, about three years ago. We had one teen with us and we had a family room (sofa bed?)
It had an outdoor pool which was a nice addition, and the breakfast was pretty good.
The area seemed safe (near the university, I think).

Thanks everyone for your replies I really appreciate it. Novotel looks perfect unfortunately there are five of us and we no longer fit in one room so need two rooms which makes it quite expensive. I think I’m going to go for either Ibis Rouen Nord or campanile Rouen nord.

Thanks again !

Check out Campanile. They are usually out of town with plenty of parking. Join their website for the best rates. Kyriad are also reasonable.

Could I resurrect this thread? We are also going to Rouen with a top box. Any other hotel suggestions where it is easy to get into town but safe for a 4x4 with top box?

Hello, in the end I booked the Campanile Rouen Nord - not going until August!

Hello, for us it was ideal. It’s nothing fancy/quite a basic hotel, but we had 2 adjoining rooms (we are a family of 5) and we parked right outside the room. It’s quite motel like. We arrived early evening, dumped our stuff then took a bus to the City Centre and had a great evening - nice meal and a walk around the City on a lovely sunny evening. It ended up being one of the highlights of the holiday! Kids are desperate to go back as they liked a boba tea shop that we found in Rouen …
the lady at the reception was helpful and friendly. We didn’t eat at the hotel or anything but there was a small restaurant and a bar. There is also a huge Carrefour a 5/10 min walk from the hotel (this is where we took the bus from) which was great for buying a packed lunch for the journey the next day.

If we drive down from Calais next year we will definitely stay there again.

In the end we used Best Western Plus Hotel le Conquerant. Great little hotel. Car park outside and secure with CCTV right outside the hotel reception (in a very safe area anyway). It was perfect. Super easy to get into Rouen in a taxi and near the motorway.
