Valencia- Stay at the City or the Beach

Looking at Valencia for a girly break, 3 nights in June. Can anyone recommend a hotel with a pool? Small, family run, reasonably priced. Is it better to stay at the beach and go in to the city, or vice versa? Thanks

stay in the city and walk/bus to the beach. Sorry, can’t help with hotels as have always used Airbnb.

We stayed at the beach. Loved it. Took about 35 mins on the bus to get into the centre. We could walk to the port in 30 mins along the front. If it hadn't been height of summer and 40 degrees we would have walked more as there is a park from the port all the way up to the old town which would have taken about an hour.
Buses are so frequent and easy to use. Getting a 48 hour ticket was also really easy.

We were right out in Patacona. There are closer bits of beach to the main town.

I’d recommend staying in the city to have the best access to restaurants etc. Such a good atmosphere there. I don’t think many hotels have a pool though because it’s all very old and tightly packed. If a pool was a deal breaker you might have to look further out.

Just came back from Valencia, I'd say stay in the city. Be careful of the pools thought, our apartment had one and it wasn't heated. So do a double check.

I can’t help with hotel recommendations as I was studying there rather than on holiday but I would also stay in the city and get the metro or bus out to the beach.

Another vote for City, then take the metro / tram to the beach

I've been twice and stayed at a Holiday Inn and a Westin - not very cultural, but it was fine for what we wanted

We went at the beginning of November and stayed in an apartment which was a 5 - 10 walk from the square with the cathedral, and plenty of restaurants and bars, plus mini-marts. We were also about 3 mins walk from the bus stop which took us down to the city of arts & science and to the beach . Think it took about 25 mins to the beach . Now the beach is a lovely long stretch of sand - but I don't know how much is open / going on in that area out of the main season . There was a row of restaurants very close to the bus terminus where we went to lunch on a couple of occasions - but the beach stretches out for around a km and I don't know what is there in terms of hotels .

I put a thread on here myself as we couldn't decide on whether to stay city or beach (and I'm normally a sucker for a sea view) but we felt we had made the right decision with staying in the city .

It's also very easy to travel around by taxi - get the Cabify App.
