Caribbean Island holiday at New Years

Thinking about going to a Caribbean island for New Years. I’d be bringing my parents in their early 70s, both very active.

I’m told this is peak peak time. Looking at Barbados or Antigua. Will there be difficulties getting restaurant reservations? Is it a nice time to travel?

Coral Reef in Barbados is lovely. Food in the hotel is excellent.

It's a lovely time to travel - and both Barbados and Antigua are beautiful islands.

There will be plenty of restaurants open, but you will need to book reasonably far in advance I would have thought.

Its an amazing place to travel for Christmas and New Year - you're right in that it is peak time to travel but its a beautiful part of the world. The festivities are amazing and people are so friendly. We love everything about Barbados, the food, culture, the beaches. Bliss. This is an example of a luxury villa that could work for you.

Have you considered a cruise?
I'm just home from 2 weeks cruising - we did Barbados, Antigua, St Kitts, St Maarten, Tobago, St Vincent, Guadeloupe, St Lucia, and Dominica. Couple of days at sea too.
All the islands had lots of day trips from the ship, or you could just get off and get a local taxi in the port very cheaply. Usually around $10 dollars for a return trip to the beach.
There were many '70's' and some older passengers together with much younger people.
I have done similar cruises across Christmas New Year and they have been wonderful.

Just back from Barbados it's really lovely and a lot of fun. Food is great.

However honestly I preferred St Lucia.

I think it was I just preferred the resort but I'm a crash person and can't be arsed exploring much Grin

Barbados is definitely the right choice for food though.
