November/December city break

Can anyone recommend a non UK city break that’s a bit Christmassy but not the usual places that do Christmas Markets and are freezing cold. I am looking at Lisbon but I wonder where else. We’ve done Barcelona, Rome, Paris, Berlin, Porto, Venice and some others. Looking for a good mix of shopping, history, sight seeing and a pretty place to visit.

I just got back from València and it was lovely. Sunny and crisp (think thick jumpers and a scarf weather). And all the Christmas stuff was still up and it looked amazing. It’s a compact city, so good for walks. Lisbon could be a good shout or Seville.

Malaga would be great. The Xmas lights there are amazing.

Actually that reminds me, someone I know recommended Carcassone in France at Christmas, so that’s on my list to check out.

Nice is nice (😁) at that time of year, and has a great train line along the coast that takes you to Monaco and Cannes, for example.

Lisbon is gorgeous at Christmas. Huge tree in the Terreiro do Paço, lovely lights everywhere, Christmas market in Campo Pequeno, and Lisboa Christmas wonderland plus best hot chocolate at el Corte Ingles

We went to Seville at end of November and it was marvellous. Warm and sunny in the day time. The main xmas markets hadn't yet started but there was one near the cathedral specialising in Nativity scenes. Lights were up but not yet switched on.
