Hi, does anyone know of any insurance companies that would insure a 79 year old who has had lung cancer in the last year? Has had the all clear and is cancer free now .

Marks & Spencer have good cover for older people, don't know about illnesses.
I'd go to a specialist broker, but it's likely to be very expensive.

Try all clear or stay sure.

Amberlady · 08/01/2024 19:03

Good to Go is good for travel insurance with medical conditions.

Staysure or Avanti are worth trying.

Rocknrollstar · 08/01/2024 19:17

Just bear in mind that he won’t be covered for anything they can connect to the cancer.

Blondeissimo · 08/01/2024 19:37

All Clear insurance

You can get insurance that covers cancers and conditions associated with the cancer.
I use Insure With

Tracker1234 · 08/01/2024 20:07

Second Insurewith….best to call them rather than do online for something as specialised as this

Justrolledmyeyesoutloud · 08/01/2024 20:39

Thanks all, will give some of these companies a call tomorrow

Staysure

QueenBitch666 · 08/01/2024 23:19

I use Saga for my mum but definitely looking for more reasonable options

QueenBitch666 · 08/01/2024 23:20

Just to add she has long standing chronic health issues

Doggymummar · 08/01/2024 23:21

Saga or age concern

Growlybear83 · 08/01/2024 23:37

I've Insurance With as well and they covered me for breast cancer when I went away three months after major surgery. The premium was extremely competitive as well. As others have suggested, it's probably best to ring them for a quote rather than do it online

Pifful · 09/01/2024 16:37

I have a long list of pre existing conditions, including breast cancer 3 years ago. I've use Staysure in the past but they are very expensive (for me £200+ for one week or £550 for annual).
If you use a comparison website even with medical conditions you can do it online and get comparison quotes.

Don't rely on reviews from people buying travel insurance because they are only reviewing the purchase process. The insurance is only as good as the claims process and all insurers use claims handlers. Most of them get appalling reviews.

I got lower quotes from some places but I try to find a company that is a big name. Saga are usually top price in my experience.

Will he make more than one trip? I ask because it can still work out cheaper to buy single trip policies rather than an annual one if you have age / health premiums.

Bumply · 09/01/2024 17:27

I've used All Clear and LV= with pre-existing conditions.

Thanks for all this, very good point, it is only when you claim that you know how good a company is.
No this will be his last trip abroad, said once he gets to 80 will jist holiday in this country!
