Algarve - Praia Da Rocha - Do I rent a car?

I've booked a week on Praia Da Rocha coastline for spring. I expect it'll be quiet as off season. Heard Praia Da Rocha is very costa del tourist, which is fine for us. Thinking of hiring a car though to get to nearby towns like Alvor, Lagos and some of the caves, landmarks etc.

If you've been to the area, is this easy enough? It'll be my first time in Portugal. Any tips greatly appreciated.

Lagos is lovely, and Alvor is a pretty little town - although a few tourists! Definitely hire a car, it's quite easy to get around in Portugal by car.
