Could I be cheeky, and ask for your Barcelona recommendations please, primarily of where to stay, but the best things to do.

Will be going for a 4 day long weekend in June or early July, with a group of friends.

Thank you!

https://www.aspasios.com/apartments-barcelona/catedral-bas-apartments/ These apartments are lovely. Do a Tapas tour - Strawberry tours did a good one, plus another free walking tour of the old town. Go to Park Guell and visit some of the Gaudi buildings, plus Sagrada Familia. Go to the beach and drink cocktails. Rooftop of the Museum of Catalunya has a fantastic bar with views. Rao restaurant for fancy tapas. El Quatre Gats for brunch in an amazing building. El Nacional for food and drinks. Get the cable car. Boat trip round the harbour. Churros and hot chocolate on the Ramblas. Don't miss the market! Wander round the side streets. Be careful of pick pockets.

H10 Maddison, lovely hotel and roof top bar

Bearpawk · 07/01/2024 22:24

If you don't mind being a little outside of the centre, the Hoxton is gorgeous and has a great rooftop bar/ pool. It's right by a metro station so easy to get into town if you cba to walk.

Tapas and lots of it

We enjoyed the cable car www.telefericdemontjuic.cat/en?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=GMB

La Sagrada Familia is a must, we bought tickets where you got to go up one of the towers and was amazing

I have been twice and each time the fountains haven't been on, but if they apparently they are spectacular

Sagrada familia is amazing, bit do book a.time slot so you're not standing in a queue.

Do not eat in a cafe in sight of it, especially where prices aren't visible. Idiotic us got burned by that!

Get the underground to the beach, it's cheap and only about 4 stops.

The gothic quarter is a nice place to stay amd wander around.

Local tiny coffee is very very strong! Do not have two....

Use the buses. They are great.

Picasso Museum

Cable car trip up the mountain.

H10 Montcada Boutique is a fab hotel, very central, would recommend. Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell, tapas and vermouth, you can't go wrong!😎

Pashazade · 08/01/2024 08:11

Sagrada Familia, try and time it for sunset ish, light through the west windows is amazing, also the little museum underneath is interesting.
Casa Batlao is utterly stunning and has a nice bar on the roof, also the house next door is apparently lovely and has a nice chocolate shop/cafe.
Dr Stravinsky's is a fab cocktail bar
Park Güell is lovely, be warned if you walk up it is at the top of a hill.

AuntieMarys · 08/01/2024 08:27

We stayed at Hotel Espana...rooftop bar and tiny plunge pool. Very central but not noisy.
We booked to go up the tower at Sagrada Familia....well worth it but very narrow spiral staircase coming down!

I have been a few times and always stayed at the H10 hotels. Been to casa mimosa, madison and cubik. Casa mimosa, while gorgeous is more out of the way in the eixample district. The other 2 are in the gothic quarter. I personally prefer the gothic quarter and would say the H10 Madison had the best location. Lovely hotel but small. In fact all of the hotels I have stayed in are gorgeous. I love Barcelona but would avoid las ramblas it’s the one part I hate! So much to do! Hope you enjoy!
