Hey - hoping to get some inspiration/ ideas!

Want to go away in July with my husband and 10 and 15 year old boys. Fancy doing a sort of 2 center holiday where we do a villa/ airbnb maybe with pool for the first week with a car and do beaches, see some places. we like little places with local restaurants not ay kind of "strip".

then the second week was hoping for a hotel or complex of some kind with either interconnecting rooms or ideally apartment of sorts on site where there is stuff to do like tennis/ table tennis/ gym/ heated pool etc BUT - we want to be able to walk out in the evening again to a local place for tavernas/ restaurants to eat. not anywhere with a"strip" - more a small place with local restaurants ideally.

any suggestions of hotels/ areas this could work at all? Not bothered about kids clubs my kids arent keen and theyre happy doing their own thing.

thank you!

We’ve done similar a few times. Greek Islands work well, we did Rhodes Towm and Lindos, although you could do Athens and an island.

We’ve also done Trogir and Split, Lisbon and Algarve (Tavira is beautiful), and Granada/Malaga/Nerja

ooh thanks for this @Chocbuttonsandredwine - you have similar taste to us - weve done Greek Islands too - fave one was in corfo where we did west coast the Corfu Town. Went to Athens last October (dont think i would stomach the heat in July!)

Did lisbon a couple of years ago but liking the croatia or southern spain idea - will have a look at that now - thank you.

https://www.residenceoliveto.it/en/6159/residence/services We stayed here once. 5 mins to town and beach. Massive pool. Mini apartments with various numbers of rooms. Water park in Ceriale. We did it by train from Nice airport (Genoa also possible) so no car, but took the bus out to various places up and down the coast. Could tie it in with Cinque Terre or Nice, or other riviera beach towns.

Thanks @MissAmbrosia . The place looks fab. Did you find it expensive in that part of Italy to eat out?

We did a 2 centre trip to Croatia - staying in Split for 5 nights and then at Waterman Beach Village on the island of Brac, just 10 minutes from the ferry in the town of Supetar. Waterman was quite low-key: just the one pool, gym, mini golf, table tennis, small play area and that was about it.
