Caribbean for 7 nights

Are we crazy? We only have 5 days of annual leave to use.

Our plan is to:
Fly early on a Saturday to St Kitts. Get a transfer/boat to the island of Nevis.

7 nights there of relaxing by the pool, eating local food, having rum punch.

Ferry to St Kitts, fly overnight into Sunday.

Work on Monday morning.

We live about 40 mins away from the airport.

Is there a specific reason to go to Kitts and Nevis over somewhere without so much travelling? Presumably you’ve also got to get from the ferry to your accommodation at the other end, so the total travel time is going to mean a lot of wasted time.

Its not mad to go to the Caribbean for 7 nights but I would look at Antigua for a similar vibe but direct flight and fairly small island so nowhere is more than 40 mins from the airport

We have fallen in love with the hotels on Nevis in the oldy wordly buildings.

Antigua has similar but they’re over budget. We do like Antigua.

Too much travelling for only a week for me personally but I know someone who went to the Caribbean last week for 7 days so it doesn’t out everyone off!

*Put not out 🙈

Surely you’d be better off waiting until you have enough leave to do it properly?

All it takes is for one delay and the plans would be thrown enough to waste a day of the holiday?

polarpoo · 06/01/2024 11:30

Okay, yes I see your point. Maybe we should look at somewhere easier like Antigua for this year.

St Lucia?

Considering there was someone on here planning to fly to visit a European city for the day, I think this sounds perfectly fine. That length of time is plenty for just relaxing and long haul flights don't seem to get the delays as much as short haul unless there's some complete disaster. Nevis looks absolutely amazing, I'd do it in a heart beat. I've been to Mexico for a week so I wouldn't think anything of it.

I’ve done it a few times OP and came back, feeling nice and rested. If you are a good flyer and take a direct flight it’s fine.
