Holiday abroad during school summer holidays… is this possible?

We’re really keen to go abroad during the 6 week break however the prices are scary. We went to Devon last year in August and the great British weather let us down, desperate need of summer sun, beach and hotel/resort suitable for DD6, DH and myself. Can anyone recommend a good tour operator or destination where it won’t cost the earth? Budget around £3k. Thx in advance 😊

You can get a holiday for £3k easily, we went to Portugal for that. Have a look at Jet2 holidays and easy jet holidays, found some bargains in there.

Absolutely doable - we went to one of the Greek islands mid August for around £1800. That was all inclusive for two adults and a child. Lovely hotel.

Ours was with Jet2 holidays.

We've just booked flights to Murcia in Spain with Easy Jet and a villa via air bnb for 10 nights. Has come to £3 for two adults and two kids. Mid to late August.

Cambrils is a lovely seaside town.
( much more traditional than Salou).

Something like this

We have been to Greece twice for less than that. Also Croatia but that was longer ago. We book flights with easyJet and accommodation with Booking.com generally, choosing one of the pay on arrival or free cancellation options.

We've done Portugal for less than this, but we didn't do it through a holiday company. We found an apartment with pool on Airbnb and then booked flights separately. We would normally choose self catering anyway. Package holidays are more expensive generally.

How long? How many people.

You may be able yo stretch it to 10 days if you start booking now and go self catering. Flights are really expensive now though.

You need to do a search and see what's best. I find May is a good month with TUI, cheapest deals. August and 3k for 3 people may be doable if you build your own package or manage to get a childfree place OP.

We booked Eurocamp for 2 weeks in the south of France, August. Including flights it’s about £2500. 2 adults 2 dc. Not a hotel but we prefer self catering and don’t spend too much there as the pools and entertainment are included.

Should be doable in Turkey if you can be flexible with your dates. easyJet flights + book a hotel or B&B directly somewhere a short hop away from the airport (loads of nice places really near Dalaman for example).

Favouritefruits · 05/01/2024 19:26

Get yourself on the website ‘on the beach’ you can easily have a holiday for 3k, 4* most likely too!

Favouritefruits · 05/01/2024 19:29

Just had a look for you £560pp all inclusive to turkey 5* including flights, baggage, airport lounge and fast pass…..

Lilacdressinggown · 05/01/2024 19:30

Eurocamp. They are fantastic. They have air conditioned lodges, caravans, glamping tents.
There are many types of sites. Some with entertainment and kids camps, others that are very quiet, most in beautiful towns.

Late August/very early September is often a good deal depending on when school goes back as lots of European countries are already back at school then.
Lots of places can be very hot in July and August so be aware of that as well.

Yesididntdothat · 05/01/2024 19:58

I can't see anything (catered) for less than 4 grand on Jet 2 - I suppose where you want to fly from makes a difference too?

addictedtotheflats · 05/01/2024 21:58

Easy, we went to Ibiza last year at the beginning of august for £2K, myself DP and DS4. Did a week all inc with a free child place with jet2, hotel was a bit dated but it was up there as one of my favourite holidays.

Yesididntdothat · 05/01/2024 23:51

It definitely helps to have small dc or to find a free child space - when their teens finding enough room for everyone gets tougher

JaneKatSuttonGoals · 05/01/2024 23:53

Loads of great holidays for undr £3k for 10 days at the moment with jet2 & easyjet holidays. I just can't make a final final decision!
