Somewhere to stop with three-year-old on journey from Manchester to Cheltenham

We’re driving down from Manchester to Cheltenham soon and are looking for somewhere about half way to stop and feed/entertain my almost three-year-old, does anyone have any suggestions? Looking to stop for about an hour. We also have a six-month-old so bonus points for good changing facilities etc.
I’ve been Googling for a while but it’s so hard to know what’s actually good so I thought I’d see if the good people of MN have any suggestions. Thank you!

Definitely Trentham. There’s a mini train, a fairy hunt, adventure playground and monkey forest. There are also so many cafes and restaurants that it can be hard to choose which one to go to. Cadwaladers is probably one of the best for small children.

Trentham isn't far enough on the journey for a break, unless the M6 is blocked. I would aim to get South of Birmingham so you gave the worst part of the journey over. Kidderminster, Stourport area. If its only an hours break, then some where to get out the car and stretch your legs. How about Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings at Bromsgrove? They have an old windmill which may be interesting for and hour, and a tea shop.

Thank you both, that’s really helpful! Whether we do a shorter leg then a longer or the other way round will depend on naps and the like so definitely useful to have options for both. Thanks again ☺️

I wouldn't bother tbh... we used to regularly do Preston to Gloucester to visit grandparents with just motorway services as and when needed. Old McDonald had a heck of a big farm...Grin

Don’t plan it, just drive until they’re fed up and come off where you are. Kids are unpredictable.
