We are about to embark on an extension and it will be hell. I know this. With it in mind I’d like to get away the week of the 12th feb so we can have a break from it and allow for any knocking through to the property etc to happen.
Two kids - 5 and 7 and a dog.
to complicate things slightly DH will have to work in the day at least part of the week so I’ll be solo parenting and would love to be somewhere where we have daytime options inside as I doubt the weather will be amazing.
Anyone think of anywhere which might work? Bonus points if there is a swimming pool nearby!
We are in Yorkshire so top half of country best!

Buxton ? I think there is a public pool and the Peak District has so much going on.
we stayed last year at Wye Head cottage which was wonderful, can't remember which agency but it was really well equipped and doggy friendly. You could easily base yourself there, we went all over the place from Matlock Bath to the Wedgwood factory

We stayed ay Landal Darwin Forest right next to Matlock last February - would that be too far?.

Margaritawithlime · 30/12/2023 19:07

Thank you! Matlock might be pushing it (only because DD is a vomit comet in the car which makes travelling tedious. But we can stop!) I’ll have a look

Ah thats a shame - I know its difficult to find places open in February.

Ilikewinter · 30/12/2023 19:19

Or your could try Forest holidays, but last time I looked they were quite expensive!

Cayton bay near Scarborough is open that week and has a pool.

I’d go to the Northumberland coast. Stunning deserted beaches - tons of castles - Cragside and Wellington NT - Newcastle for cinema etc

Northumberland or Scarborough look fab. Going to concentrate our search there. Thanks!

Peak District? We had a great holiday in the Peak District, stayed at HIgh for, midway between Matlock and Matlock Bath.
