So, we are hoping to go to Scotland in summer half term for about 5 days - but I've never been to Scotland and don't know where to start. have a 13 year old who likes to be active - sporty - and likes a bt of excitement/bling too!

We will go to Newcastle on way back to visit friends.

Any thoughts on where to start looking?

North Berwick. Foxlake Adventures is close by car. With train trips into Edinburgh.

For choice of activities Cairngorm National Park is the best for active teens and the climate is relatively dry.

Another vote for the Cairngorms. If you stay around Aviemore, you’ll be in easy reach of G2 Adventures, Robbiemurchus, Aviemore Kart Raceway and Inverness for dolphin watching.

East Neuk of Fife is lovely. We stay in St Andrews then explore from there.

Cairngorms/ Rothiemurchus. We stay annually for a few weeks. There is so much today here and nearby.

Cairngorms without a doubt - lots to do in and around Aviemore especially.
