Holiday ideas for 1 and 3 yr old in Europe

I’m planning to take my 1 and 3 yrs olds abroad for the first time next May or June. I’m a single parent but travelling with my sister and her boyfriend.

I would like

  • near beach (or possibly lake)
  • pool
  • self catering but will eat out some meals (I wouldn’t mind all inclusive if it was nice but not so keen on sitting alone in hotel room every evening - if there’s a solution to that would be interested to hear it)
  • ideally not to have to drive- don’t mind driving abroad but imagine it will be complicated with two car seats and 5 of us
  • easy and non- stressful!
I’ve considered Majorca, Lake Garda, Portugal but bit overwhelmed with options.

Majorca is gorgeous, also sorrento is beautiful.

We had a great holiday here with our 18m old - it’s set up for kids but also was really nicely done for adults. It’s self-catered but there are lots of restaurant options (they offer take away too) and I think there is also a possible all-inclusive option. Beach and pool, a few parks, kids play rooms and soft play and kids club (if you want that). It was a 45min drive from Pula airport but you could potentially get a transfer and if not, the drive was quite easy.

At that age its a waste of money as they will enjoy uk just as much. You won't be able to relax.

It's not just about the kids. I'm taking my DD to the canaries in Feb. I know she won't be fussed where she is, but it will be good for me!

I disagree about staying in the UK- the weather for one thing!

Jet2 has very good search functions so you can filter by room type so you can get an all inclusive that offers a one bed apartment for example @Circe7 you can then price match elsewhere.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will have a look.

@HazelWicker I know what you mean and there’s loads of great places to visit in the UK but I have had three holidays here where it has rained almost continuously and it’s really limiting.

I don’t expect it to be relaxing but I have the option to go out of term time and to have some help so think it might be at least a bit enjoyable if we choose the place carefully.

Have a look at Eurocamp, it’s not a hotel, but there are some fantastic camp sites, mostly france, but in a few other European countries as well. A lot of sites have great swimming pools, play areas and depending on where you go, can be near a beach, restaurants on site and very family friendly. We have driven, but would be easy to fly or get the train.
