Priority pass airport lounge

I'm looking at the Amex Gold card that enables 4 airport lounge visits a year. The small print says 1 person and guest so I assume that means DH and I would be "free"? I can pre book to guarantee a spot for £6, we have another adult with us who would presumably pay full price? So we can reserve for £18 then when we arrive one of us would pay? Can anyone confirm or debunk this please!

Can’t help with the Amex specifically, but I have a Dragonpass and the reservation fee is per group visit. It isn’t per person. Also guest visits are at a reduced rate paid for at the time of booking.

I wouldn’t get the credit card just for the Priority Pass / free lounge access if there is a fee on the card. Because the lounge access is not worth it - these aren’t nice like airline lounges. It’s often better to go to one of the nicer restaurants in the airport than it is to go to Priority Lounges, which are basic, busy, and have limited drinks options (no champagne…).

@Usernamen not getting it for the lounge pass, it's fee free for the first year after which I will cancel as I have the BA Premium Amex, but need to top up to get the flights we want and this has an offer for 25,000 points which gets us where we need to be, lounge pass is just a perk, we have been to this lounge before but on the dragon pass so not sure how it works but happy to book it (agree we wouldn't pay full price for it).

double check you will get the bonus points as normally if you already have an Amex you dont qualify

@chipsandpeas I'm only a supplementary card holder on the BA Amex so am eligible. I'm dithering a bit as we got 70,000 points signing DH up last year so not sure whether to hang on for a deal like that, but as we only need 25,000 points and this is technically free thinking I should just go for it (so was hoping the lounge pass might tip the decision for me!)

Actually, I think I may be mistaken. The booking fee is per person so ignore me.

Having said that, it has been waived the last ten times or so that I have used it.

@Oakbeam interesting thanks, we didn't book the last time we went and just tried on the day, not sure if that was lucky or not.
