British Airways - using points / companion ticket

Has anyone done this?
Ive points and a free companion ticket to use up.
very flexible on both dates and where - however the booking system is sooo hard to use, wondering if anyone has any tips or suggestions on how to find the good deals?
My only plan I can think of is on one tab search on the normal flight pages of where and when, then on a second incognito tab (BA won’t allow two tabs open on flight checkers) then check and book on the reward flight page?

Im sure they make it deliberately hard to redeem the reward flights!

if you are struggling with the website why not call the Executive Club team. They will be able to search and book the flights for you

Are you using the app or the website?

The website seems to be a lot more flexible- for example on the app I can only see single direct flights but we need to go via Heathrow.

Also if you use the website if there's no availability on the date you want, you can check for a few weeks at a time.

Use the website and click on the ‘use companion voucher’ in your account page. You can then pick your destination and search available flights.

There are not any deals as such. Each place is worth a certain amount of points and there are peak and off peaks prices. Also you need to pay taxes in £ and these can vary.
Try term time and start with somewhere you want to go. Play around and you'll soon get a feel of cost and availability.
Also a good time to go business.
If you plan far enough ahead and have lots of points try NYC etc. lots of flights so lots of choice. We've done Las Vegas on first but only 2 seats per flight so had to get those on release.
