Hi,

We would like to take our baby who will be 6 months old for a week in May to the South of France. However we want a villa that is within walking distance to restaurants, or town.

Please does anyone know of any child friendly places?

Thanks

Where abouts in the South of France are you looking?

vnewmummy · 15/03/2008 21:51

Nice or surrounding areas...

Oh.

We have some very good friend who have recently bought a villa (they also live out there too) to let out for holiday makers. But they are in St Cyprien (about an hr away from Spain) so I don't think thats any use to you.

vnewmummy · 15/03/2008 21:58

Thanks anyway xx

there was a mumsnetter whose parents had a baby friendly villa in the south of france
am sure she'll be along soon

I live near Nice and would like to help re "child friendly places" but don't know what you mean. Could you clarify?

As for when in May NOT to visit this area, avoid 15-26 May like the plague, as this is not only when Cannes film festival will take place, but also F1 Monaco Grand Prix.

Do you absolutely need a villa? If you take an apartment, you will be near the sea and the heart of town. Villas are more common inland and outside town centers.

Thanks for messages.

By child friendly I guess I mean having the facilities like cots, highchairs etc.

It would just be the 3 of us and I dont want to have to take everything for the baby with us!

We ideally want a pool, 2 bedrooms (One for the baby) and self catering facilities. We are looking for a bit of luxury at the same time!

It's important that we can walk into a town rather than drive everywhere...

Thanks for letting me know what dates to avoid, we can go anytime really.

Thanks and futher ideas out there? xx

Hi again!

We would be flying from Gatwick. As for dates we are really flexible as we only have the baby so happy to avoid half term if more expensive.

I will send an email so you can look at prices. Thanks again.

vnewmummy - Not to offend aznerak whose villa I am sure is great, but I hope you realize that it is nowhere near Nice.

vnewmummy · 16/03/2008 17:56

Hi CoteDAzur,

Yes realised that but cant seem to find anything in Nice. Did you know of any places? Vilas or apts?

xx

Post on Angloinfo and I am sure you will get offers. It also has a page on estate agents who would certainly have apartments/villas for rental.

There is also a rental page here.

If you want to be around Nice, look to rent in these places:

  • Nice (unless you'd rather not be in the hub/noise of the city)
  • Villefranche (beautiful place right next to Nice, with beach, town, etc. I always recommend my friends to stay there rather than Nice)
  • Beaulieu (small port town between Monaco and Nice. About ten minutes to each)

Hope that helps. The only place for rent I know about (it's a friend's) is an apartment in Cannes, but it does not any baby equipment in it.

Thanks for all the info...off to do my homework now and book a holiday!xx

Have a look on www.cheznous.com as I seem to remember some nice places actually in Nice or Cannes. The weather will be better in the South than in Beziers but both areas will be warm enough in May.
