Inter-generational UK break

Looking for a 70th birthday summer break that might suit both grandparents and kids 5-8 years. We are split location based between south east and north west, so somewhere like Cornwall probably too far, centre of the country works better. We like easy places with stuff nearby when we all go together (so Center parcs usually works for family trips as things not in too much walking distance, as there's some limited mobility) so either a site close to everything or a nice hotel with activities for older and younger people. Happy to spend within reason as it's a special birthday, hence not just going for CP again . Any ideas for good rough locations or actual places to stay?
