Lille restaurants and things to do

[Lottapianos]

DP and I (no kids) are going to Lille for a couple of nights between Christmas and New Year. We love food, and will be particularly interested in the local cuisine (carbonnade a la flamande etc). We enjoy walking, churches, museums, bit of light shopping, chocolate, wine and beer

Would love some recommendations for restaurants, bars, cafes and general sightseeing. Thanks!

Rue de Gand in Vieux Lille, has several "Estaminets", which are the local, traditional restaurants. They all do variations of these dishes, and even tasting menus. Well worth a walk down. There's a good few bars there as well, such as Beerchope, which has hundreds of beers available, including about a dozen on tap.

For a bit of variety, I do like a visit to Le Dernier Bar avant la Fin du Monde, which is wonderfully kitsch, and the toilets are in a Tardis! You can have a local sausage for lunch there.

There are also places where you can get a Flammekueche - which is the local version of a pizza. Flam's is the one I went to and enjoyed.
