Rome in early May - good idea?

I am planning a 3,4 day trip at the beginning of May 2024. Is it a good idea or a bad time? I appreciate it will be busy but hoping not crazy busy like July/August?
Any advice?

Perfect time to go. It won't be crazy busy, and it won't be unbearably hot.

Beautiful time to go. Just be on the look out for public holidays - they have a few in May which may affect accommodation, opening hours etc
