Child passport renewal - change of address

With apologies to @bakedpotatoforlunch

My kids’ passports are out of date. They need new ones before a holiday in May. We have moved house since they were last issued a passport. Can I renew or do I have to put in a full new application?

Government website says:

If your child’s name or other personal details have changed, you cannot renew their passport. You must apply for a new passport instead.

I’m assuming a new address counts as “other personal details” but I can’t find a definitive answer anywhere.

No, the address is irrelevant. Just renew as normal. Your passport is not linked to your address.

I agree. The address is irrelevant.

I moved multiple times.. the address is irrelevant to passports.

No that's definitely a renewal, just make sure you give them the correct new address. I've done it several times as a renewal for my children after moving. I've just done my son's in the last few weeks, we were not at this address 5 years ago when I applied for his last passport.

Fabulous! Thanks all. That makes things much easier. Cheaper too I bet.
