Should I travel home yet?

I've been in the Canary Islands for a week, due to travel back on Saturday.

I woke up early hours of yesterday feeling really ill and began vomiting every 15 minutes or so. A doctor came out to me just after 9am and gave me an injection of 3 different drugs. Fortunately I haven't been sick since but I developed a fever and terrible body aches yesterday. I'm presuming it's norovirus or similar.

Apart from feeling like death warmed up, I'm really worried about travelling home on Saturday. I want to be at home right now but I don't want to risk passing on any infection (no sickness at all today and only one episode of diarrhoa throughout). Also I feel so bloody ill and weak I'm not sure I wouldn't pass out at some point.

Should I rearrange my flight for early next week and stay put for an extra couple of days or am I likely to feel absolutely fine by tomorrow and therefore travelling on Saturday will be a breeze?

Due to lack of sleep, water and food I seem to have lost my ability of thinking rationally.

There is a good chance you will start vomiting again when the medication wears off.

you have a sickness bug and he gave you three injections?

Tiredbehyondbelief · 23/11/2023 17:55

See how you are feeling tomorrow morning and go from there

One injection with 3 drugs. I had to have the injections again this morning but he didn't give the anti sickness one as I hadn't vomited again. I feel sick as a dog now tho.

thank goodness for travel insurance!

if you have to reschedule will be covered

keep all your doctor docs

I'm due back for the final injection tomorrow then I presume he'll declare me fit to fly if I'm no longer vomiting? This doesn't take into account feeling like absolute crap though.

So… tell him that.

From his perspective you staying longer means another charge for injections, so i doubt he will kick up a fuss

Tbh I'd be happy never to see him again but I need the receipts of his call out and medication for my insurance.

what did you decide?

I travelled back as planned. I hadn't been sick again and started to eat plain biscuits and toast on Friday evening without ill effect. Apart from feeling drained, I felt ok. Glad to be home.
