Is £1,800 expensive for this trip?

Flying London-Los Angeles, four days in Los Angeles in a 4* hotel.
Then fly down to Puerto Vallarta in Mexico and stay in an airbnb that’s part of a fancy villa with sea views. Fly back to London.

So 11 nights, £1,800 self catering. Two people.

I think that’s super cheap! 😳😳😳

Theforeverhome · 20/11/2023 21:58

No

CousinGreg55 · 20/11/2023 22:03

Sounds very cheap but then I'm used to August prices.

justalittlesnoel · 20/11/2023 22:10

Sounds like an absolute bargain!!!

trialanderrordarling · 20/11/2023 22:24

That's exceptionally cheap. Why do you think it might be expensive?!

volunteersruz · 20/11/2023 23:00

Suspiciously cheap!!! Is anyone offering to pay for your plane tickets…..!?!?

BarbaraofSeville · 21/11/2023 05:03

I agree, suspiciously cheap.

£900 pp for two long haul flights, a short flight, 4 nights in a 4* hotel in what is probably an expensive city and a week in what sounds like nice accommodation.

Are you sure it's not £1800 pp?

scaredofff · 21/11/2023 05:04

Waaaaay cheap! Don't miss out if that's a deal you're being offered

NovemberAutumn · 21/11/2023 05:16

I have just paid £1800 for 5 days in Munich for 3 people so I think it sounds insanely cheap!

Aposterhasnoname · 21/11/2023 06:18

Cheap to the point I’m highly suspicious. What’s the catch?

TropDrôle · 21/11/2023 06:19

I think £1800pp sounds right. For two, there’s something amiss.

PickledPurplePickle · 21/11/2023 06:22

That is a bargain

Cumbrianlife · 21/11/2023 06:23

Too cheap if anything.

DGPP · 21/11/2023 06:25

Why is it so cheap?

Warchester · 21/11/2023 07:17

I’ve spent more on a 4 day holiday to Spain, is this a local “travel agent” deal. There was a documentary about a con artist who sold cheap holiday deals very similar to this, flights would be booked but when they arrived at the hotel no reservations had been made.

megletthesecond · 21/11/2023 07:20

No. Weirdly cheap.

ZenNudist · 21/11/2023 07:24

Even 1800ppn would be cheap.

notimagain · 21/11/2023 07:55

It may be, might just, be possible to get the air fare element down to something like 1000 Sterling ppn mainly by using very sub-optimal itineraries and connections.

That obviously doesn't leave much remaining for accommodation.

So 1800 ppn total might just be possible but even then I'd be looking very hard at what exactly is on offer.

Owlcat42 · 21/11/2023 08:12

Doesn’t sound viable to me. If this is through a travel agent/person, check they are atol-protected here https://www.caa.co.uk/atol-protection/check-an-atol/ If they’re not, don’t go near it.

Check an ATOL | Civil Aviation Authority

Search to see if a business holds an ATOL or is part of an ATOL accredited body

WaltzingWaters · 21/11/2023 08:16

Sounds about right pp but for 2 sounds very very cheap for nice accommodation.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 21/11/2023 09:46

What are you fjying in? Portman Pat's helicopter.?

Is that £1800 per person ?

zarinan · 21/11/2023 19:11

Haha. No! We’re flying indirectly so that brought costs down a lot. Handbaggage only. Airbnb in Mexico is just a room, but staying with an expat american couple etc.
