Nice but affordable place to stay in Toronto city centre

There's 6 of us, and even air b and b is looking costly. Guess it is a big city. Any recommendations gratefully received, spent most of the day googling and disappearing down internet rabbit holes and need someone to sort me out!

You don't say what your budget is but have a look at the Doubletree in downtown Toronto.

It looks great but it’s already sold out. Budget is as cheap as I can get it without staying in a hovel ☺️
