Can anyone recommend a book about inter-railing?

My son is in Year 12 and, inspired by watching 'Race around the World' is interested in going inter-railing after his A levels. I'm going to buy him the European Rail Map for Xmas, and may buy him a book too, but not a traditional dry travel guide - I was thinking of something a bit more readable, inspiring, but also potentially helpful to someone who isn't an experienced traveller. Any ideas?

Europe on a shoe string (lonely planet) was the inter railing bible - it was pretty interesting to ready and super useful. Is it online now?

Monisha Rajesh’s books about train travel are great. Her first two are about India and then round the world (including Europe), but I think she’s about to have a new one just on Europe out.

The Man in Seat 61. Website will be really useful when your son gets to the planning stages.

Was about to make the same recommendation for Seat 61.

A copy of the European Rail Timetable (book or electronic version) is also useful - both for planning and travel (saves roaming charges).

Europe by Rail: The Definitive Guide might also be useful - but check that it is complete before buying/gifting as the Amazon reviews suggest there are copies with printing issues out there.

Definitely the European Rail Timetable - https://www.europeanrailtimetable.eu/ - but probably not until he's about to go. Although getting a copy now and planning various possibilities might be enjoyable. They also recommend some routes.

I'm really looking forward to trying Nightjet's new mini cabins - https://www.seat61.com/trains-and-routes/nightjet-new-generation.htm#mini-cabins
