Trip Reports

Would anyone else find trip reports as a sub section here useful ? I do use TA but find the reports on there can be quite lengthy and often aren't family-friendly holidays. Plus they can be a bit dry.

i often turn to MN when researching stuff and I would really prefer to read trip reports by other mnetters than using TA.

TA reviews are from a wide cross-section of people from all around the world.
I read reviews about places I'm researching, so I don't bother with "dog and/or family friendly" as they are not for me, & I assume others only look at places of interest to them.

They need to be read with caution;

too good = probably written by a relative of the hotelier
too bad = " " " " business rival

By "dry", do you mean factual ? I prefer that to a lot of waffle about how wonderful a particular waiter was.

I think people are more likely to ask if anyone has been to xyz hotel, rather than trawl through posts looking for it.

There are also a lot of holiday/travel FB pages where posters give honest opinions.

I'll be interested to see other responses.

@Georgyporky dry may be the wrong word, maybe woffling on about stuff totally irrelevant to the holiday would be better. I find a lot of the reports quite wordy and geared to the older traveller. Eg most of the reports I read on TA for Venice were older people visiting all the museums but on here people gave more suggestions for family friendly restos abd activities which were more relevant.
I find peoples' posts on where someone has posted, for example "what can I do with an 11 yo in Munich" really useful as they give me ideas of things that we might like doing.

And to clarify I don't mean reviews, I mean trip reports.
eg we went to Venice in half term, this is where we went and what we did and these are my experiences and tips.

I would find it useful esp with photos though may need to be broken down by countries or age of kids.
