Can you tap in and out with your phone in The Netherlands? Apple Pay for example?
Or a debit card?

Will save having to get a tourist ticket.

yes that's possible.
but some cards are not accepted (but train stations and trams have ticket machines/offices)

I used my (UK issued) Chase card extensively in the Netherlands in August, including buying bus tickets in Eindhoven park & ride.
