I have a week in and out of Tirana in March and would like to see the main UNESCO sights in particular GJIROKASTRA but don’t want to hire a car. Public transport seems limited so what’s the best option. Thanks

I went a while ago but there are shuttle like buses you can catch. You wait outside a petrol station, hotel etc & flag one down. If they’re going where you want you hop on & they drop you off. Very basic & it’s how the locals get around. Or you can pay for a private taxi to drive you around. I went 2015 so public transport wasn’t a thing.
Make sure you go to the Blue Eye & Butrnit.

You can pay taxi drivers a fixed rate to take you to places, or book with excursion companies if you don't mind travelling with others, and in a more touristy manner.

Thanks - I’ve been eyeing up a few Viator tours that pick up the major sights. Hoping for Black Friday discounts

You can get the mini bus but you can’t book it. You just have to get there early and hope there is space. Also quite hair raising (driver was on not one but two phones Sarande - Girokaster) and nearly crashed! There arent always reasonable return times either. I recommend just booking a tour for day trips.
