Lapland- Best Santa quick visit for 8 year old and area to visit

Travelling with an almost 8 year old who is starting to ask questions about Santa....Thanks to older school friends! :-(
We've booked to go to Yllas ( flying into Kittila ) and looking forward to doing local activities, however we know it is a quieter location and ideally do want to get out once to somewhere a little livelier if time allows, we also want to see at least a glimpse of the big man!.....There is a Santa trip to the secret Elves village near Levi.....I have read some amazing reviews and pictures look sweet, However I know my son won't be that interested in the Elf games and activities now he is a bit older, we are thinking that might even make him question Santa more.....We have seen plenty of "Elf helpers" (good and bad ) and Santas with dodgy beards over the years that now we would just be happy with a quick hand shake and picture taken with the Real Santa from Lapland!......We were considering ( possibly crazy ) travelling by bus/ Taxi ( depending on price ) down to The Santa Clause Village in Rovaniemi as our son would love to go....Question is, would that be worth it?.... How authentic is Santa - is it believable? also.... is it obvious that there is another Santa?..Ive read there are 2 different ones?

Rovaniemi is great. Lots to do there, plus the Snowworld next door which you pay for but our family group of kids really enjoyed. The Santa there is pretty good, as is the very busy post office.

You're going to get a taxi on a 12 hour round trip? Surely not?

Hardly fucking quick or magical 🤣

Oriunda · 10/11/2023 17:01

Yylas to Rovaniemi is 2hrs 20 mins, not 12! OP is flying to Finland.

We visited Santa near Ruka, he was amazing.

We stayed at Lapland hotel Saaga in Yllas and went to the snow village near there - saw Santa and did sledging etc- all booked with Tui coach picked us up from the hotel

"Yylas to Rovaniemi is 2hrs 20 mins, not 12! OP is flying to Finland."

Round trip on the bus it's almost 12. Apologies, a taxi would be quicker at 5 hours round trip. Extortionate and still neither quick nor magical.

we were wondering how feasible it was, that’s why I was after advice. I may have misread but thought I’d seen a private transfer advertised somewhere for around £250.00 it would be a really long day and expensive, we realise that… possibly a crazy idea!… just a thought right now
in terms of quick I meant the actual time with Santa not the trip obviously!
any other suggestions or advice appreciated!
Thanks all!

Thank you, good to know…whether we’d manage snow world as well I don’t know but like the idea of the post office
