Travelling around Iceland next May/June for a week (in a camper van)

I really want to visit Iceland. Thinking about doing it in a camper van. Has anyone done this? If not a van, where are your favourite places to visit in Iceland?

A week is either a quick drive around the coast or you could go south and west with a bit in the middle! Look at Discover the World for loads of 1 week itineraries. You need to weigh up driving vs seeing more as you go. We prefer the latter but some wonderful areas such as the Westfjords Region are more time consuming to get to. I enjoyed everything including the super jeep tour! Golden ring is a must but there are some great museums on Icelandic life too. Whales should be seen in June too.

The glacier lake is fab and diamond beach. Glad we prebooked these as they couldn’t fit people in who turned up on the day. We also loved the quad biking at Black Beach. Into the glacier was pretty cool (no pun intended). We went to the blue lagoon, just because, all the southern waterfalls and the golden circle. Fantastic place to drive around.

Our kids were too young for a glacier hike, but we would have done that too.

My favourite thing was the hot river.
