possible to get to alton towers from manchester?

are there good transport links? my mam's got free tickets, but we've no car. would it just be a massive pain in t'arse?

dead easy to get to Stoke - train from Manc piccadilly. No idea from there to AT but sure there must be a bus...

what date are they for? i've got some for sunday 29th june but would like to swap them for a different date if possible.

They run special Alton Towers buses from Stoke Station Its the X If you go by National Express from Manchester that takes you to Hanley. The timetable is here.
