Cheap warm/thermal clothes for cold trip help?

We are visiting a cold Canadian city in winter where the temperatures could be anything from +10 degrees down to -20 depending on the winter they’re having. It could be snowing/raining or neither. We’ll be in and out of museums and cafes etc so layering will be key - we all have warm coats but I think we need to buy thermals/fleeces etc as well. Any recommendations on where to look for the cheapest options that are still good quality? I’ve been looking at Decathlon ski wear - does anyone rate them?
Thanks if you can help!

Primark plush-lined leggings!

They are great under joggers and skirts when worn as 'long-johns'.

Far better than the expensive ones I bought on amazon last year!

FayCarew · 06/11/2023 16:55

Decathlon is fine.

Uniqlo is good for thermal layers/fleece lines clothes for adults and kids.

@YNK this is music to my ears! Do they do kids’ sizes?! At least I’ll be warm if not.
Thanks @FayCarew Decathlon is good value.

I bought some lovely ladies thermals from Tu at Sainsburys last month for trip to Iceland. Was really impressed with value for money.

Uniqlo do three different levels of Heattech for different temperatures.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 06/11/2023 23:56

Uniqlo heattech.

Which city? Humidity can also play a factor.

Windmill34 · 06/11/2023 23:58

I bought M&S Heatgen £16 round neck long sleeve t shirt, don’t get mixed up with heatgen @ £8

I get all mine for cheap on vinted. Kitted out the kids for Lapland and skiing last year sooooo cheaply.

SnobblyBobbly · 07/11/2023 00:20

We're off to Lapland so have been looking at this stuff lately and everyone recommends the Primark Leggings mentioned above (I have some, they're great and they have loads of colours this year too) and also the Primark fleece pyjamas as a mid layer.

Now I got some from the men's dept because they were plainer/less pyjama looking - they were £10.

If you want a warm hat, I'd vote Amazon over the ski shops - cheaper and a wider choice.

Have a great time, I'd love to go to Canada.
